Well, my furry baby of the four legged variety is any way! I never really considered myself a dog person, only a puppy person. So when my human baby asked me for a puppy of his very own for his 4th birthday... I thought about it. I got him a million toys and hoped he wouldn't notice! The following year, he asked for a puppy for his 5th birthday. So, I did what any parent would do in this situation and I took him to Disney World!! yeah... Well, when birthday number 6 rolled around and he was still desperately seeking a puppy to love...I caved. I researched breeds that might be good for a busy family that likes to play outside and a dog that "matched" our family...I like when people look like their dogs. Weird? Yeah, well! I do! So, then I looked for a dog that matched our family, didn't shed, was hypoallergenic, wouldn't get to be HUGE and was big enough to enjoy a brisk jog. Finally, I decided we had to have a GoldenDoodle! You get the smarts of the poodle and the family friendly golden retriever all wrapped into one and he would then have "hair" not fur because of the poodle. Ah..perfection. Right? The best part was that I some how found a breeder in Hampton, a mile from our home and the puppies would be ready to leave about a week before Joey's 6th birthday. Fate? So, we bought this puppy with the idea that he was a blondie like us. He wouldn't shed. He wouldn't be more than 65 pounds and basically, he was perfect. Well, yesterday my little four legged sidekick hit his 6 month milestone and since Joey got a special 6 month old party, Buddha certainly needed one too. So, we rang in the occasion with {wet} dog food and an all natural "birthday cake" for pups! Yes, we sang happy birthday! I felt like Bu was strutting his stuff all day. Like, he woke up with a chip on his shoulder because it was his day and he could do NO wrong. So, how did I make it through the first 6 months without being a dog person? Somewhere in the past few weeks, I've become a dog person. I've come to love our morning snuggles and I've come to love our walks to the bus stop day after day. However...I must have failed to read the small print on Buddha's receipt because...I will have you know...my GoldenDoodle sheds. He isn't going to be 60 pounds, the vet tells me we are looking at 100 to 120. And I am fairly certain he thinks he is smarter than we are... But, I think we'll keep him! Here's looking at you Kid!
This was from the weekend that we brought him home. What a little baby!!!
